A never-ending search for the best barbecue joints in the country
Mark, I found your blog after reading the CNN article. Before reading your blog, I had a Memphis trip planned with the intent on hitting my favorite BBQ restaurant of all time...the Rendezvous. However, your blog inspired me to step out and take my family on a mini BBQ tour...Tops, the BBQ Shop, and Cozy Corner...all in two days! Man, what an experience. I agree with you...the BBQ shop has the most tender and well flavored rib meat I have ever had, and their slaw received top honors from me as well. Had ribs at Cozy Corner also...I liked their rub and sauce better than the BBQ Shop, however. Tops pulled pork was unreal, and their BBQ beans were hands down the best. Thanks again for your passion for BBQ and for your inspiring me to try Memphis' hidden gems. Check out my family's blog for a picture of me at the Cozy Corner (www.mcreynoldsmcblog.blogspot.com). If you are ever in my neck of the woods (St. Louis), be sure to go to Pappy's Smokehouse. It is far and away the best BBQ in St. Louis.
